  • Eat a balanced diet

  • Do Not Smoke!
Many of us are not concerned about our health. In fact, many of us live sedentary lives. We come to school and remain seated most of the time for our lessons. When we go home, we spend a lot of time watching television or doing our revision. It is time we changed or else it is only a matter of time, before we suffer health problems such as headaches, migraines, obesity or even diabetes and high blood pressure.

The first thing we should take care of is our diet. Eat a balanced diet. A balanced diet is one which has the right amount of carbohydrates, proteins and other minerals. Cut down on fatty food such as butter,ice- cream and chocolates. Instead, eat more vegetables and fruits. Cut down on sugar and salt. Avoid junk food altogether.

Exercise regularly. Exercise is a prerequisite to good health. Health experts recommend exercising three times a week for about twenty minutes each time. You need not do strenuous exercises such as jogging or skipping. You can take a brisk walk or go cycling.

We should also avoid stress. Students can experience stress due to work pressure or due to the high expectations of parents and teachers. Students should learn how to deal with these increasing demands. Avoid situations that are stressful. Take time to relax and unwind. Take up a hobby or exercises like Tai-chi and Yoga which can help you to release the tension.

Finally, avoid smoking. Smoking can bring about a host of health problems like lung cancer. It is disheartening to see that the number of students who smoke in schools is on the rise. Kick this bad habit.
